I filmed these farmers in early June 2014. I directed and shot the segment with help from a drone crew. We used a Chinese brand hexacopter to get the aerial shots. The type of seaweed they are farming is called Saccharina japonica or more commonly called Laminaria or just plain old kelp or seaweed. It tastes delicious and the Chinese eat it predominantly in soups.
